Two things to know: your address and your seed phrase.

  2. Slide 2 of 6: Your address A long string of letters and numbers. It's where coins get sent to you. Safe to share, like an email address.
  3. Slide 3 of 6: Your seed phrase 12 or 24 words that ARE your wallet. Whoever has them owns everything in it. Never share it. Not with support, not with a friend, not with a site.
  4. Slide 4 of 6: The app is just a window Your coins live on the blockchain. The app only shows them and lets you approve moves. Lose your phone? Your seed phrase gets you back in.
  5. Slide 5 of 6: Every move is public Anyone can look up any address and see what it holds and every trade it made. That's how you'll check other wallets later in this series.

Do this once, before you put anything in.

  2. Slide 2 of 6: Use a separate trading wallet Keep your savings in one wallet and your trading in another. If something goes wrong, only the trading wallet is at risk.

  4. Slide 4 of 6: Never type it into a website No real app or support team will ever ask for it. Anyone asking for your seed phrase is trying to take your wallet.

What SOL is and why you need it

No SOL, no trading.

  3. Slide 3 of 6: It pays the fees Every action on Solana costs a tiny network fee, paid in SOL. Usually a fraction of a cent, plus whatever your terminal adds.
  4. Slide 4 of 6: It's what you trade with You swap SOL into a coin, and back to SOL when you're out. Count your results in SOL, not in the coin.
  5. Slide 5 of 6: Always keep some for fees With zero SOL left, you can't even sell what you hold. Leave a small amount untouched in the wallet.

The safe way, step by step.

  2. Slide 2 of 6: Get SOL on an exchange Most people start on a regular crypto exchange app. Make sure it's SOL, not a different coin.
  3. Slide 3 of 6: Copy your wallet address Open your wallet, tap receive, copy the Solana address. Always copy and paste. Never type it by hand.
  4. Slide 4 of 6: Send a small test first Send a tiny amount and wait until it shows up in your wallet. Then send the rest.
  5. Slide 5 of 6: Check the start and end Some bad programs swap the address you copied for their own. Match the first 4 and last 4 characters every time.
